The Public Art Design Council invites entries for the Chamber Art Gallery exhibit. The Gallery includes two rooms, the City Council Chambers and the Council Conference Room.  Each exhibit is for twelve (12) weeks as follows:

•November 6, 2017 - January 29, 2018

•February 5, 2018 - April 30, 2018

•May 7, 2018 - July 30, 2018

•August 6, 2018 - October 29, 2018

Eligibility

Artists from Reno County and other surrounding counties (includes only Rice, Stafford, Pratt, Kingman, Harvey, and McPherson counties), ages 17 and older are eligible to submit work. Emerging and career artists are encouraged to apply.

Artist Requirements

The program currently accepts submissions in the following categories: photography, drawing or painting, graphic design and mixed media. Each exhibit must have at least three (3) pieces but not more than nine (9) pieces. The City may combine exhibits to fill the space.

Art Selection

The submissions will be reviewed and selected by a Program Team who are members of the Public Art Design Council. The selection criteria include assessment of creativity, originality, overall impression, craftsmanship, and appropriateness for the venue, as well as review of supporting documentation.

Exhibit Promotion

The City will promote the exhibit on its website, social media channels and through the Channel 7 local access TV program.

Sales

All purchase inquiries will be directed to the exhibitor. However, the City should be notified of sales so a “sold” notification can be placed on the art. The City of Hutchinson does not take a percentage of sales; however, artists may choose to donate a percentage of sales to the Public Art Trust Fund for future programming.

Exhibit Agreement

Artists are required to provide a signed Waiver and Release upon application. Permission to photograph artwork is considered granted unless otherwise stated in writing. All artworks are insured by the City while on exhibit.

Submission of Work

Complete the Application form, Waiver & Release and provide a one-page biography about the artist and his or her work. In addition, submit separate hi-res jpg files for each piece of work and an image list that would be displayed as part of the exhibit. Each exhibit must contain at least three (3) but not more than nine (9) pieces of art. Submissions must be made electronically.

Submission Deadline

Submissions will be accepted on a rolling deadline schedule throughout the year. The Project Team may consider any submissions that were not selected for a specific exhibit for other exhibits throughout the year or for other venues as they become available. Submissions are due by 4 p.m. on the deadline.
