Arts & Humanities Council
The Hutchinson/Reno Arts and Humanities Council holds regular meetings at such time and place as may be determined by the members. Special meetings of the Hutchinson/Reno Arts and Humanities Council may be called by the President, or in his or her absence, by the executive committee which in the President's absence would consist of the Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, provided at least 3 days notice is given each member prior to any such meeting.
The Council shall consist of a maximum of 20 members. At least 3 members will be appointed by the Board of Commissioners of Reno County. Up to 17 members will be appointed by the Governing Body of the City of Hutchinson, Kansas, a minimum of 6 of whom shall be representatives of the organizations funded by the Cultural Activity Fund. Members shall be residents of Reno County. Ideally, members should represent the diversity of the community and have an active interest in cultural concerns. The Cultural Commission was formed in 1990 by the City of Hutchinson to unify all arts groups in the Hutchinson/Reno County area. The mission of the Hutchinson/Reno Arts and Humanities Council is to provide leadership in strengthening and advancing local arts and humanities organizations and projects through professional development, financial guidance, promotional services and advocacy. The Council will strive to participate in and encourage cultural activities throughout the community with a view toward enhancing the quality of life or Reno County residents, contributing to economic development, and developing cultural tourism.
