Animal Shelter

The Hutchinson Animal Shelter provides a centralized location with a safe and healthy environment for the temporary housing of lost animals during the time it takes to reunite them with their owners. The shelter also facilitates a service for owners in various life situations to surrender their animals. Once the animals are available for adoption, the dedicated staff and volunteers of the Hutchinson Animal Shelter work to find these temporarily displaced animals new forever homes.

The animal shelter is a city-funded animal shelter that's been in operation since January 3, 2006. The Animal Services department consists of three animal control officers, four shelter technicians and one animal services director. We strive to provide quality service, excellent customer service and an invaluable assistance to the animals and citizens in our community.
The facility comfortably houses approximately 48 dogs and 44 cats. Staff and volunteers work to meet the needs of the animals in the shelter which includes medical and behavior needs.  The shelter works with many rescue organizations to transfer animals to other organizations so that the shelter has the room to take care of more animals in need.

The shelter offers many programs including volunteer and foster programs.  Also training classes for your dog!
