Projects 16-01 & 16-02, 2016 Arterial & Residential Street Maintenance

 We are working on streets!  Streets bring stuff, which makes them awesome.

The project includes the following Streets:  Should be filled out.

    Traffic Impacts:  Motorists should expect delays, and lane closures.

    • Severance (11th to 17th);  Closed to all traffic during the day, Monday July 20th to Wednesday July 23rd.
    • 17th Street (Faircrest to Dixie); Begin Work Monday July 20th, open to thru traffic, with lane closures between Faircrest and Dixie
    • 30th Avenue (Main to Waldron);Begin Work Wednesday July 23rd, open to thru traffic, with lane closures between Main Street and Waldron. Expect Multiple construction crews, and work in multiple locations. Major construction activity is expected to last until mid-August.
    • Lorraine Street, North of 30th; traffic will be one lane, with flaggers

     Driveway access on roadways open to thru traffic;

    • Driveways are expected to be closed for about 10 minutes during milling operations, and 15 to 20 minutes during paving operations.  The contractor has will endeavor to maintain access to affected homes and businesses. However, some amount of delay and closure is expected.

    Projects 16-03, 2016 Watermain Replacement

     We are working on water lines!  Waterlines bring water, which makes them awesome.

    The project includes the following Streets:  Should be filled out.

      2015 Street Improvement Project No. 13-09
      Main Street Reconstruction, 23rd to 30th Avenue


      Phase I of the Main Street Corridor Project from 7th to 30th Avenues. The construction project was developed utilizing the Main Street Concept Design, presented and approved at the October 7th, 2014 regular City Council Meeting.       The final Main Street construction project includes the following design elements;

      • Street will remain a five-lane roadway, mill and overlay of existing roadway.
      • Curb and Gutter removal and reconstruction, Driveway approach removal and replacement.
      • Replace “Bulb-Out” at 25th, and construct New “Bulb-Out” at 27th
      • Sidewalk removal and replacement in some locations, along with a new sidewalk on the East side of Main from 27th to 30th.
      • Replacement of aging storm sewers, 30 inlets and 2,500 feet of storm sewer.
      • Replacement of 3,800 feet of Water Main (originally installed between 1938 and 1943)
      • Removal and Replacement of Streetlights with New Steel Poles and L.E.D. Lighting.
      • Traffic Signal Improvements at the intersections of 23rd, 25th, 27th and 30th Avenue.
      • New crosswalk/pedestrian signals at  25th, 27th and 30th 
      Financing:
      • CIP Bonding and Roadway CIP Reserve Funds = $2,361,861.53
      • Water Line Projects CIP Reserve Funds = $550,000.00
      Main Street Phase I Basic Schedule:
      • Design Completed January, 2014
      • Project Bid April 14, 2015
      • Pre-construction Conference May 6, 2015
      • Site Construction Began May 11, 2015
      • Substantial Completion date is April 30, 2016 (contract date, expected completion fall 2015)
      • Final Completion date is May 31, 2016 (contract date, expected final delivery is fall 2015)
