This weeks highlighted employee comes to you from dispatch and is one our newest members to the HPD family.
My name is Jessica Lynch and I have recently joined your police department as the Emergency Communications Center Manager. I come to Hutchinson with 15 years of experience in 9-1-1. I hold Public Safety Executive level credentials and am one of a very limited number of people in the nation to hold all three executive credentials as an ENP, CPE, and RPL in addition to my recent completion of the CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation Manager Program. I hold advanced communications level credentials in my home state of Oregon, as well an advanced certificate in Hostage and Crisis Negotiation; having taken my basic training with the F.B.I and continuing my intermediate and advanced certificate through an agency utilized by the Western States Hostage Negotiation Association (WSHNA). In addition to my career in 9-1-1, I served as the assistant team leader for the Hostage Negotiation Unit of a regional SWAT team. I have a genuine passion for our profession and my heart is with our responders in Public Safety and in the service of our community. Kansas is at the forefront of 9-1-1 technology and it was this progressive mindset and understanding of the necessity of this critical infrastructure which initially drew me to the sunflower state. Hutchinson offered an opportunity to work with a Director who has an incredible knowledge and background in public safety communications. I was impressed with the department standards, the core values, and the dedication to the service of the community. Ultimately it was your warm and welcoming community with kind people which brought us to our decision to move our family from Oregon to Kansas. I am so excited to be part of such an incredible team City, County and Statewide and I am truly honored to become part of your “Hutch” community.
My husband is a firefighter/paramedic, who also serves on a regional SWAT Team. We have three children (10, 7, and 4). In our off time you will find us shuttling kids back and forth for a variety of activities. Our family life can get a little crazy between kids, animals (one cat, one dog, an African dwarf frog that was once a class pet, and some small fish), and work. I love early 1900’s era houses and my favorite pastime is to “Pinterest” projects for our home which in turn gives my husband an immense aversion to the website. I, thankfully, married an excellent cook because when it comes to food, I have substantially more Pinterest fails than successes. All in all, we are a simple family with young children who share a heart for public service and are active in our community. We look forward to joining this community and continuing in our public and community service with you here in Hutchinson.
