Hutchinson Fire Department Taking Educational Messages to our Children

With the recent events of COVID-19 forcing the Hutchinson Fire Department to suspend community engagements, the department is thinking outside the box and going to go live with educational programming for our children utilizing our Facebook page address at With the recent events and schools closed for the remainder of the year, the department wanted to provide parents an educational opportunity. Starting Monday March 24 at 3:00 p.m., the department will kick off 15-30 minute educational programming on our Facebook page. This will include live streaming and include such things as tours of HFD’s 6 fire stations, children will learn about the equipment used by firefighters, they can see and tour our engines and ladder trucks. Kids will also learn how to use a fire extinguisher and how to help with mom cooking in the kitchen using kitchen safety techniques. Visits from Fire Pup and our 10’ mascot will also make appearances along with some fun exercises to get your blood pumping. Learn how sprinkler systems and smoke detectors can save your life. There is so much more, so please join us.

We are asking for parents to please comment on our Facebook page after Mondays first post, as we want to learn what the best time of day that works the best. We are also asking parents if you would like this daily or two to three times a week. We want to accommodate your schedules. See you soon on
