[ARCHIVED] TEN ACTIVE CASES IN RENO COUNTY, 58 CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19 WITH 48 RECOVERED

As of 12:00 p.m. today, 58 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported to the Reno County Health Department. The median age of all confirmed cases is 49 (range: 0-81 years) and 38 (64%) are female. The additional cases added over the weekend include

  • A couple who is currently servicing their quarantine.
  • A positive case associated with exposure to a laboratory confirmed Covid-19 case within Reno County.
  • The six remaining confirmed cases currently have unknown sources of exposure which may be indicative of community spread within Reno County. Investigations and case contact tracing efforts are still underway.

Two previously counted cases have been removed from the Reno County aggregate listing in consultation with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as these cases did not materialize initially because of Reno County spread.

Forty-eight previously confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Reno County have recovered from their illness and are no longer considered contagious per disease investigation guidelines furnished by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The ten active cases are being investigated to establish isolation requirements and identify close contacts so that appropriate quarantine requirements can be implemented.

Currently Reno County has ran 2,418 tests with 2,360 negatives for a positive case rate of 2.4%. A total of 3.85% of Reno County has been tested thus far.

Please practice good hygiene with frequent hand washing, proper respiratory etiquette such as coughing and sneezing into your elbow bend, limit handshakes and physical contact. Stay home if you are feeling ill and call your primary care physician to discuss your symptoms.
