Hutchinson / Reno County Emergency Communications is the critical link between community members calling in for assistance and emergency personnel in the field including fire, medical, and law enforcement in the Hutchinson and Reno County area.
The Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.) is the City of Hutchinson SWAT team. The team was developed to respond to and deal with "high risk," police situations.
The mission of the Hutchinson Police Department’s K-9 Unit is to enhance the Department’s efforts in crime prevention and detection, criminal apprehension, and service to the community.
The Patrol Section is responsible for protecting life and property, preserving the peace, preventing crime, enforcing the law, arresting offenders, responding to calls for service, investigating and responding to complaints from citizens.
The Police Department Traffic Bureau was started in 1994 and was originally comprised of 1 Sergeant and 4 Patrol Officers. It was started with a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation that paid a large portion of the costs for the first 3 years.
The Volunteer Patrol provides the Hutchinson Police Department with a team of responsible dedicated volunteers committed to assisting law enforcement officers with their daily duties.
