Fleet Maintenance

Central Garage services and maintains over 743 total vehicles and pieces of equipment owned by the City of Hutchinson. These range from large construction-type equipment, vehicles, light trucks, heavy & medium duty trucks, fire equipment and emergency response equipment as well as turf maintenance equipment.

Sewer Maintenance

Sewer Maintenance is a division of the City of Hutchinson Public Works Department. The division currently has a staff of 11 people and is responsible for maintaining the sanitary sewer infrastructure systems.

Street

The Street division is responsible for the repair and maintenance of hard-surfaced streets, dirt street and alley maintenance, snow and debris removal, street sweeping, signs and pavement markings, traffic control for emergencies and special events, hauling livestock bedding for the Kansas State Fair & other seasonal livestock events, and the maintenance and repair of the City's storm sewer infrastructure and levee system.

Wastewater Treatment

The Wastewater Treatment Plant operates 24/7 and on average, treats approx. 1.9 billion gallons a year (4.9 million gallons per day) of mixed sanitary and industrial wastewater and disposes of 1,000 dry tons of municipal sewage sludge – biosolids for agricultural reuse on 460 acres.

Water Maintenance

Water Maintenance is a division of the City of Hutchinson Public Works Department. The division currently has a staff of 11 people and is responsible for maintaining the water distribution system for the City of Hutchinson.

Water Treatment

The Water Treatment & Production division pumps and treats an average of 2.25 billion gallons of groundwater annually, which is provided to the City’s water customers. Division staff collects over 2,000 water samples each year to ensure that drinking water quality regulations are met.
